About JCN

Was born in Rio Piedra, Puerto Rico in 1969, and raised in Fajardo, a town in the eastern part of the island. He moved to Baltimore, Maryland in 1984, then to South Grand Prairie, Texas in 1985. In 1988, he graduated high school with special honors from his classes in Commercial Art I and II. He began college at The School of Visual Arts in New York City, where he studied for two years before transferring to and graduating from, The Connecticut Institute of Art in 1992 with a B.A.

That year, Julio was accepted into The Society of Illustrators’ Annual Scholarship Competition after being nominated by his university for his outstanding illustration work. After finishing school he began freelance design, and graphic artwork with national companies, honing his techniques and skills. Currently, Julio lives and works in Arlington, Texas where he is inspired, and where his continued connection to God allows him to see and create new paintings for his collections.  his works of art are mysterious, positive expressions, and each person should experience each piece individually – seeing them subjectively and understanding them through their own eyes. In his work, he uses his own perspective, his artistic vision, and inspiration from The Most High Above into a powerful painting. Julio believes that He uses his talents to pass messages to those who see his paintings and illustrations and to inspire them.

Julio relies on his audiences’ reactions to his work to give him energy. With this energy, he explores new forms of expression in his art. Everything Julio paints is submerged in details and color: some forms are recognizable, others blurred. Interpreting the painting may take time as the viewer wonders over the allegorical figures and shapes. Sometimes, spiritual symbols are set to represent things more felt than seen.

My goal

As an artist, my goal is to leave a legacy behind. Because the idea of a starving artist I have to spend my time in a career as a graphic designer to pay bills and time is something you don’t get back. I would love to be able to teach art to every single all-age individual… for free is my passion but since I have trice Cesar what is for Cesar bills… I enjoy teaching all groups seeing them enjoying and being able to create for the first time is a pleasure and honor to be your teacher. One of my sayings, as I teach, never says you CAN’T is not part of my vocabulary… I say everything is possible with a good instructor ME!!

One of my accomplishments, when I graduated from high school, was to get Honors and I did class 88 honor of commercial art 1&2. I remember my art teacher from high school and that’s why I like for you to remember my teaching as your instructor.

Thank you for taking the time to get to know me.
